The House is in the Department of the Vienne (86) and 2 kms to the nearest village St.Leger De Montbrillais, with Bar, Boulangerie and Boucherie, coiffeur and Post office and Mairie. There are two restaurants one (Belgian) at Pouancay (10 minute walk) and the other is a Les Routiers at La Motte Bourbon 5 minutes by car.

Surrounded by vineyards, both our neighbours Domaine du Grand Clos and Lionel Renard both sell high quality wines in their trogloditic caves. Hence on the property there are no less than 13 caves all dug out by hand. The biggest, as this was an former wine producing property, is approximately 40 metres in length with the wine press still intact. You could even make a swimming pool underneath the barn or even in the large cave.Some of the other caves date back to the 12th Century. There is also a cloam oven in excellent condition
The school bus for Loudun (the nearest school) passes by the house and stops on the corner a 2 minute walk
Loudun is the nearest town, with Notaires, Hotel de Ville, Leclerc & Champion Supermarkets.
Market day is Tuesday where you can pick virtually anything you want. The town also supports dentists, doctors and a very good Vet.
Montreuil Bellay (the same distance to Loudun), is a beautiful town with it's own market in the shadows of a magnificent Chateau.
There is a very good Super U supermarket open all day. There is also a tabac and press just outside the chateau.
Saumur is a 20 minute drive and is the equestrian center of France with the Cadre Noir (Dancing Horses) open most days of the week. Experience its market on Saturdays which winds around it's cobbled streets.It also has an enormous 'fairy tale' Chateau just off the river Loire. Saumur has plenty of entertainment, including a festival of jazz and viewing of their caves at Gratien & Meyer (Vin Mousseux) whilst taking in the breathtaking views of the River Loire.
